Cement Technique for Jewelry

In the "Cement Technique for Jewelry" workshop taught by Demitra Thomloudis, students will learn to create hollow, lightweight objects using cement and apply these techniques within the format of jewelry. Silicone mold making, resin, and acrylic surface techniques will also be covered. Metalworking skills are encouraged but not required.

Contemporary Craft is excited to welcome instructor Demitra Thomloudis to be its Fall 2017 visiting artist. Thomloudis is a studio jeweler, visual artist, and an Assistant Professor in the Jewelry and Metalwork department at the University of Georgia. Her work is recognized nationally and internationally. She has been invited to exhibit, lecture, and teach at institutions, fairs, and events such as SOFA Chicago, Athens Jewelry Week (Greece) and the Penland School of Crafts. Thomloudis' artworks will be exhibited in Contemporary Craft's exhibition - Shelter: Crafting a Safe Home from September 8, 2017 and run through February 7, 2018.

Tuition is $100 with a $70 materials fee to be paid to the instructor for consumable supplies.
